Automation Boot Camp, Kochi


Date :July 2nd and 3rd 2019

Giving back to the Society is an invaluable experience. ISA BANGALORE SECTION in association with @CONSYST Technologies organised a boot camp at CONSYST Center of Excellence on Automation.
Very interesting discussions, exchange of ideas, case studies of real life projects and hands on sessions on live projects set the event apart from usual classroom sessions.
Faculty and Students of MES College of Engineering - Kuttippuram, Adi Shankara Institute of Engineering and Technology- Kalady, Rajagiri School of Engineering & Technology -Kochi& Federal Institute of Science and Technology - Angamaly, attended the Boot Camp with great interest.
With a motive to give faculty members & students hands on exposure towards the Industrial Automation System Integration Activities for Engineering College Faculty & Students the Boot Camp was conducted with restricted participation (to ensure effective delivery) on 2nd and 3rd July 2019
A total of 8 faculty members attended, 2 from each college (RSET, MESCE, FISAT & ASIET) on 2nd July and 16 students, 4 from each college on 3rd July, 2019.
On the inaugural session, Mr. Ravi Balakrishnan, Exe Member ISA Bangalore Section, Kochi Sub Section participated as Guest of Honor. In his address, he emphasized the role & importance of ISA and explained the advantages of being an ISA Member.


During the Morning Session Mr. Sahal, BDM, gave a brief about CONSYST Center of Excellence.



Mr. Irshad Hashim, SBU Head, Industry 4.0, SCADA Project case study of water industry was presented


Mr. Jasir Sabri, Founder of CONSYST presented his insights on Control System Integration Business and the process flow from Sales till the commissioning with the help of a case study.
Dr. Nikhil PG, Technical Director at CONSYST presented a session on Control & Monitoring of Solar Power Plant with Projects executed by CONSYST.



Ms. Minu Nair, Lead Solution Architect, CONSYST took the delegates on a plant floor tour giving them a close look at PLC, VFD & Smart MCC control Panels detailing Panel Engineering and design aspects.




Mr. Sreejith V, Lead Engineer-Services gave a hands-on practical session on Control System Redundancy Configuration for Mission Critical Application at CONSYST Lab

Mr. Jasir Sabri, Chairman gave an insight of the opportunities for Jobs and business startups in Instrumentation and Automation domain, giving them a clear view of how industry works in today’s world and the opportunities available in Design, Engineering, Consulting, Construction, and Commissioning.

Mr. Rahul Rameez, Solution Architect, gave a brief introduction to Industrial Control Systems, emphasizing on PLC & VFD Systems.
Ms. Minu Nair, Lead Solution Architect led the students to factory floor for a tour providing a close look at PLC, VFD & Smart MCC control panels in the leadership of.


The students were given practical session on implementation of PLC Programs and Controllers by Mr. Sreejith V, Lead Engineer-Services.

Arun Krishnan, Engineer-Services give an insight and demonstrated VFD configuration.

Feedback by Faculty Members:

  1. Received opportunity towards industry exposure.
  2. Effective presentations by the speakers covering major aspects through case studies.
  3. Need more details about case studies, from estimation to execution.
  4. Require details on industry specific tools.
  5. Need to make aware to students regarding job opportunities in each stage of projects.
  6. Require more lab sessions.

Feedback by Students:

  1. Got very good exposure towards how things work in an automation industry.
  2. The Presentations were very informative..
  3. Limited time period for lab sessions and need such workshops to be conducted for at least 2 continuing days.
