He started by mentioning of how digital competencies are being exploited by the major organizations.
He made a distinction between Digital and Digitalization and mentioned about the seamless digital data flow from design to manufacturing and traced the workflow from customer desire through Design and Engineering to Manufacturing Engineering to Production and on to Service. He talked about Software being the driver to take a Virtual product and simulating it through Virtual production and using this as a twin for Real production to realize the real product. He touched upon the technology components from Siemens that enable this in terms of products in the MOM suite like Preactor, CD-adapco, Mentor Graphics, Bentley, CAMSTAR, etc. The technology components were there for many years before Siemens acquired the companies and integrated them to realize their vision. The products are available for Partners like Engineering and Software service houses to develop solutions. Siemens factory in Hamburg uses these components for their own production and Mr. Thirumalai touched upon this. The solution has also been implemented in the Siemens manufacturing plant for only switchgear products at Kalwa, near Mumbai.
The interactive discussion after the presentation was very detailed with a lot of comments and queries that were raised and answered by Mr. Thirumalai.
